Based in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, Moss & Moor is more than just a garden centre – the site brings together plants, food, shopping and wellness all under one roof.
At Gralyn Joinery we worked with Moss & Moor garden centre to design and fit-out their new premises. We oversaw the entire project and incorporated bespoke joinery installations to craft a functional, yet deluxe, garden centre.

Creative Process:
The owners of Moss & Moor had a ‘vision’ for their premises, however they had no knowledge of how to turn that ‘vision’ into a reality. That’s where we came in.
At Gralyn Joinery we consulted with the owners of Moss & Moor every step of the way in order to create their dream space.
We ensured the materials and colours we used were on-brand and flowed through into the 4 different areas of the garden centre to create cohesion and continuity.
We also ensured the project was created as sustainably as possible, to support Moss & Moor’s green credentials, and project managed the entire fit-out to ensure the transformation came to life on time and on budget.
1. Consultation
An initial consultation allowed us to discuss the brief with our client and talk through their design needs.
3. Quotation
Following the survey we supplied a detailed quote with different design and material options prior to sign-off.
2. Survey
We then carried out a full site survey, which enabled us to produce detailed drawings of the project.
4. Deliver
We then worked with our clients’ feedback and design notes to create their dream space.
Site Features:
At Gralyn we designed and manufactured all of Moss & Moor’s bespoke furniture pieces including their food bar, banquette seating, checkout stations, display stands and shelving. We used sustainable birch and ash plywood to create the pieces due to their strong, robust characteristics and light aesthetics.
From the very start of the project Moss & Moor had a clear focus on sustainability, so we commissioned bespoke counter tops from Smile Plastics, a company that transform waste materials into unique decorative design pieces.

The Results
The fit out of Moss & Moor garden centre was one of our biggest to date, but was still completed within a timeframe of 12 weeks. By working in collaboration with Moss & Moor, and following their branding guidelines, we’ve created a space that is completely on brand and made to the highest standard. From a bare shell we’ve created an inviting, calming and enjoyable place to be that brings together plants, shopping and dining all under one roof.
