Based in West Yorkshire, Tong Garden Centre required our bespoke joinery expertise for their brand new Tingley Garden Centre – the site now invites customers in with its modern and comfortable design.
At Gralyn Joinery we worked with the team at Tong Garden Centre to design and fit-out their new garden centre premises in Tingley. We worked on all aspects of the project, from planning to design and manufacturing. Our team worked to create an inviting, functional, and highly flexible retail design, which will now be adapted for use across their 4 other retail locations.

The team at Tong Garden Centre needed a reliable joinery company on-board to design, manufacture and install several joinery pieces at their new premises, Tingley Garden Centre. That’s where Gralyn came in.
We were given 12 weeks and a generous budget to design, create, and bring to life our clients’ vision for a modern yet comfortable and inviting garden centre.
We worked with the team at Tong Garden Centre every step of the way to ensure we understood the practical and design requirements needed for their new Tingley store.
We worked with high-quality, robust materials to create bespoke joinery fixtures that could handle heavy use on a daily basis. We also ensured the project aligned with Tong Garden Centre’s current branding to ensure continuity across locations. The entire fit-out was project managed by us to ensure the transformation came to life on time and within budget.
1. Consultation
An initial consultation allowed us to discuss the brief with our client and talk through their joinery needs.
3. Quotation
Following the survey, we supplied a detailed quote with different design and material options prior to sign-off.

We then carried out a full site survey, which enabled us to produce detailed drawings of the full fit-out project.
4. Deliver
We then worked with our clients’ feedback and design notes to create the premium joinery pieces they were looking for.
Site Features:
At Gralyn, our team designed Tingley Garden Centre’s new merchandise display units including room dividers, sign displays, and plant stands. The fixtures needed to be attractive in design, yet functional to hold large volumes of stock.
To achieve this, we designed and manufactured plant stands using robust metal materials to create a solid structure. We installed garden trays on the top half of the plant stands to hold smaller plants, and wooden slats were positioned on the bottom to house larger and heavier pots.
Our team also designed and manufactured display stands for Tingley’s food department – “Heartys”. These stands, which are modular, allowed for clear signage to direct customers around the area.
Finally, we conceptualised and manufactured large room dividers in cross formations to create the illusion of four separate rooms. These also provide additional hanging space for merchandising and stock.

The Results
The bespoke fit out of Tingley Garden Centre needed to be completed within a 12-week timeframe. Our team completed the required work, along with some additional features requested by the Tong team within this 12-week timeframe, and to the specified budget.
Working closely with the team at Tong Garden Centre was also a huge advantage. The whole project ran smoothly due to the constant communication between both teams. This collaboration allowed us to follow brand guidelines exactly and create a high-quality, on-brand successful shopping space that customers love!
